Expectations
For your Character
- Your character is an adventurer.
- Your character is willing to cooperate with the other members of the party.
- Your character is not primarily motivated to harm, hinder or steal from other members of your party.
None of that is to say your character has to be a goody two-shoes or that they can't have their own motivations (you should talk to me, the DM about what those might be) but there needs to a baseline of "these people can work together and want each other to stay alive." Think more the Guardians of the Galaxy - assholes who all still love each other - and less The Gang from Always Sunny (assholes who'd ask "how could I benefit?" if they thought another was dying.)
You as a Player
- You will learn how to play your character.
- You will ask questions if you don't understand something.
- You will pay attention during the game.
- You will take an active interest in scheduling sessions.
- You will only ghost when you swipe, not when you roll dice. Seriously though, please don't ghost on a session.
- You will talk to your Dungeon Master if you are not having fun.
For the Table
- Be respectful to other players and their characters
- You miss a session where other characters level up? You don't. You have to play catch up.
- Combat is a core pillar in D&D. Almost every character class gains primarily combat oriented skills when they level up. I like combat but hate how long it can take as enemies HPs scale up. I'm always workings on ways to tweak and speed it up.
D&D is a game of social contracts. And none of them work without everyone wanting to be there and participating. Playing the game - that is, knowing how your chaacter functions and interacting with the fiction - is how you participate.
From Me, your Dungeon Master
- I will never use sexual assault or the threat of sexual violence as a plot point.
- I will never detail graphic, specific violence towards children.
- I will never maliciously try to kill or maim your characters.
- I will work with you to develop a story arc for your character.
